Linux User Creation Script
Bash script that creates a Linux user with a home directory and a generated one-time password, and forces a password change at first login.
Problem
Creating accounts by hand on Linux machines means repeating the same steps, and skipped steps give inconsistent accounts.
How it works
Check privileges
Exits with an error unless run as root or with sudo.
Approach
One script wraps the steps with checks after each one, so a failure stops the run with a clear message instead of leaving a half-created account.
Limitations and next steps
- The one-time password is derived from the clock. A random generator such as openssl rand would be stronger.
- It creates the account only: groups, SSH settings and permissions are not handled.
